BALARISTA 

The classics while discussing Longevity have classified the life span as follows:

  1. Alpayu (0 to 33 years)
  • Balarista (0 to 12 years)
  • Madharista (12 to 20 years)
  • Yogarista (12 to 33 years)
  1. Madyayu (33 to 65 years)
  2. Poornayu (65 to 100 years)
  3. Amitayu (> 100 years) 

Balarista is a Sanskrit word comprising of “Bal” and “Arista”.  “Bal” refers to infancy and childhood, while the “Arishta” means evil or inauspicious.  In Vedic astrology, it implies specific planetary placement, which may cause death during infancy and/or childhood. The disposition of the Moon in horoscope is the primary factor in deciding the presence of “Balarista” or the vulnerability of the child to suffer seAvere health issues including death. The placement of the Moon in sixth, eighth or twelfth house and also having influence of malefic planets (Sun, Mars, Saturn, and Nodes) generates Balarista. 

Moon controls infancy. Therefore we have to check the strength of Moon at birth. The guideline for this as follows:

  • Moon is weakest on Amavasya.
  • Moon is strongest on Poornima.
  • Weak Moon (WM) is defined as between Krishna Paksha 6th Lunar day to Shukla Paksha 10th Lunar day
  • Strong Moon (SM) is defined as between Shukla Paksha 11th Lunar day to Krishna Paksha 5th Lunar day.

Combinations for Balarista

  1. WM + Malefics (More conjunction, less aspect) in Lagna, Marakasthana and Dusthana.
  2. WM in Lagna, Malefics in Kendras – less resistant to diseases.
  3. WM + Malefics in Kendras.
  4. WM in 12H, Lagna and 8H under Malefic influence, Kendra devoid of benefic influence.
  5. WM in 7H & Malefics in Maraka Houses 2H & 7H
  6. Malefic concentration of planets take place in:
  • Lagna & 8H
  • Lagna & 7H
  • 7H & 8H
  • Kendras & 8H
  1. Retro Benefics in Dusthanas + Malefic influence on Dusthanas.
  2. Benifics in Dusthanas + Retro Malefic influence on Dusthanas.
  3. Lagna + 7H under Malefic influence
  4. Lagna in Rashi Gandantha + Malefic influence on Lagna
  5. Moon in Mrithyu Bhava + Malefic influence on Dusthana – danger for both mother and child.
  6. Lagna Lord in 7H with Malefics under Graha Yuddha and Lagna Lord gets defeated.
  7. Rahu in Lagna + Benefics in Visible Half (12H – 7H) + Malefics in Invisible Half (Lagna – 6H)
  8. Rahu in Lagna + Sun and Mars being 7th from WM, both Lagna and Moon are in danger.
  9. Rahu in Kendra with Malefics, Kendras will get affected.
  10. Person born at eclipse time + (Mars + Saturn) in Lagna. Both Lumanaries + Lagna are in danger.
  11. All planets in Apoklimas (3-6-9-12)
  12. 22nd Dekkanna Lord and / or 64th Navamsha Lord are in Lagna

                                                 AVOIDANCE OF BALARISTA

  1. Lagna to be associated with Lagna Lord
  2. Lagna to be associated with Benefics.
  3. Lagna to be a Benefic sign + Benefics in Kendra.
  4. Strong Benefics (Own house) in Lagna and Kendra.
  5. Lagna Lord in Kendra associated with Benefics with no association with Malefics.
  6. Jupiter in 7H and Vargottama.
  7. LagnaLord and Jupiter in Kendra, Malefics in 3-6-11H.
  8. If one benefic in Kendra, then 8H and 8L should not be affected by Malefics.
  9. Malefic if hemmed by benefics (includes longitude difference) if two or more planets are in one sign.
  10. Sun in 11H (for day born) and Moon in 11H (for night born)
  11. Waxing Moon / Full Moon (SM) in own house, Exalted, placed in Kendra / Trikona, 11H, Benefic hemming, Benefic Vargas, associated with benefics and no association with Malefics.
  12. Moon in 6H / 8H carries no Dosha if
  • day born in KP
  • night born in SP
  • Moon to be in Benefic Drekkana along with benefic association
  1. Adhi Yoga – benefics in 6H / 7H / 8H from Lagna / Moon.
  2. Malefics in 3-6-11H promote life.

Author’s Note

It is the bounden duty of an astrologer to check for Balarista and inform the parents to safeguard the life of the baby (and mother) before venturing into casting the horoscope.

    Sir,

    My son’s D.O.B is may 7th 2010 ,Time – 14:16 , (daylight savings 1 hr) Place – Portsmouth, New Hampshire, USA. He has severe eye problems for both of his eyes, is balarista present in his chart? any remedies because we are really going through rough phase because of his eye health.

      1. If I am correct, this case had come to me earlier (Check with your husband?)
      2. I had given my views on this at that time.
      3. He has no ‘Balarista”
      4. Let him listen to Vishnu Sahasranama every day.

          Have you checked with your husband?
          Yes, Moon in 6th is a Balarista. However Moon is not so spoilt to create eye problems.
          This appears congenital and with Leo Lagna , Mars in 12th and Saturn in 2nd can cause
          eye problems in both eyes.

          Please do Pariharas for Mars and Saturn. Also read ‘Chakshushopanishad” Mantra daily for him.
          You search Google and you will get the same in English / Sanskrit.

    Hi Sir, Can you help me out.. My baby girl born on 6th november 2016 Uttarsahada star in the morning 10.34 AM in India.. Can you tell me whether she has Balarishta Dosam or not? Doctors advised us to take for eye checkup after 6 months from the date of birth.

      She does not have Balarista.
      Eye problem may come because of Saturn in 12th House and Mars in 2nd House.

      He does not have Balarista. However Moon is with Ketu and directly aspected by
      Rahu, Saturn (Retro) and Mars(Retro). Therefore there will be health issues which has to
      be managed. Doing Poojas to Ganesha, Shani and Subramanya will bring relief.

    Guruji, My daughter born on 14th June 2007 early morning 3.29AM at Chennai. Does she has balarishta? If so what remedies to do? She is having health problems continuously until last year.
